About This Course

The Helicopter Underwater Escape Training and Emergency Breathing System (HUET & EBS) course provides essential training for individuals working in offshore environments, particularly in the oil and gas industry, to prepare them for emergencies involving helicopter ditching at sea. Participants will learn critical survival techniques and practice using emergency breathing systems to increase their chances of survival in the event of a helicopter crash into water.

• Helicopter Safety Briefing : Understanding helicopter safety procedures and protocols before boarding, including seatbelt usage, emergency exits, and emergency equipment location.
• Underwater Escape Techniques : Learning effective underwater escape techniques, such as maintaining orientation, unbuckling seatbelts, and safely exiting the helicopter underwater.
• Emergency Breathing System (EBS) Operation : Familiarizing with the operation and use of the Emergency Breathing System (EBS), including donning the apparatus, activating the breathing mechanism, and maintaining airway clearance underwater.
• Survival Skills : Developing survival skills for managing in-water emergencies, including managing panic, controlling buoyancy, and conserving energy while awaiting rescue.
• Practical HUET and EBS Drills : Engaging in realistic drills and simulations involving helicopter underwater escape and EBS operation to reinforce learning and enhance preparedness.
• Environmental Awareness : Understanding environmental factors that may impact survival, such as water temperature, sea state, and visibility, and adapting survival strategies accordingly.
• Post-Escape Procedures : Learning post-escape procedures, including group assembly, role assignments, and signaling for rescue after successful helicopter underwater escape.

The HUET & EBS course is essential for offshore personnel who may be required to travel by helicopter over water, providing them with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to helicopter ditching emergencies and increase their chances of survival.
